• Role on Project: Adam Britton. Projects nominated were undertaken while employed as project manager by Noosa / Sunshine Coast Councils.
• Scope of works: Adam Britton was the Client’s lead project manager for this multi-year and staged Mixed-Use Development, which included Roadworks, Office spaces, and training facilities for High-Tech Businesses, a Community Facility, Roadworks, and Greenspace.
• Building Contractors: Hutchinson Builders – Digital Hub Stage 1. Kane Constructions Qld Peregian Community House. Carfax Constructions Digital Hub Expansion.
• Challenges: Major underground services relocations impacted the roadworks construction program, followed by COVID-19, which impacted the community facility construction program. Price escalation that occurred over a multiyear project at the time of COVID-19 impacted the available budget.
• Overcoming the challenges: Collaborative negotiations with the civil contractor mitigated cost increases due to service relocations. Staging the project allowed tailored risk management of discrete elements of the project. Rescoping the design with the client and design team achieved the project objectives without increasing the budget.
• The outcome for the client: High calibre mixed-use development.
